It’s time to put an end to the career politician.

Our founding fathers envisioned a nation of citizen legislators.  When they established the Constitution, the first and foremost thought in their minds was that power must belong to the people, and not the government.

Time after time someone gets elected with noble plans to help their district, state, or nation. But once they get the job, something changes.  They become part of the system and never want to leave.  Getting reelected becomes their primary goal.

The system favors incumbents. If we really want to put an end to business as usual, we’ve got to have a constant influx of new leaders, not just re-runs of those who have become entrenched in the system. Ordinary working people from the community must step up and take their turn in office.  Our founding fathers never imagined that our country would someday be “ruled” by an elite group of professional politicians who make a living from politics and have forgotten that they were elected to be “public servants”.

As we have seen over the years, regardless of what party is in the majority, power corrupts.  It’s time to get rid of the career politician and restore the founding fathers ideal of citizen legislator. Our nation can no longer afford these men and women who are insulated from the consequences of their failures. These career politicians would have you believe that only seasoned, experienced politicians have the skills and knowledge needed to lead.  But that’s exactly the situation we have today, and that’s what got us into this mess.

If we want real and positive change, we must change the process and restore the citizen legislator. As I endeavor to make a difference by seeking Florida State Senate seat district 32, I covet your prayers; and I would ask you take a minute to give me your comments and input.

It is my desire to be one of those citizen legislators that our founding fathers believed would be best suited to serve and protect our freedoms.

Immigration law violators are not immigrants.

Immigration law violators are not immigrants they are illegal aliens.

Immigration law violators are not immigrants. They are illegal aliens who are in the United States in violation of law. There is a difference between those who legally apply for admission and fulfill all the requirements, and those who enter the United States, or intentionally overstay their visa. Labeling these violators as immigrants is wrong and misleading.  Just how many illegal aliens are in the United States is difficult to determine primarily because many who are in custody either do not disclose their true status, or they are released before INS can return them to the country of their origin. To add to the resolution of this problem is if you stand up and express your concern or opinion you are called a Racist, Nazi or some other name that puts a label on you. I want to say that this is still America and we still have our first Amendment right to speak. Don’t be threatened or discouraged by these people; continue the fight for legal immigrant’s not illegal aliens. I attended a protest in Ft Lauderdale on November 14, 2009 against illegal aliens and faced this type of confrontation. Is this the best you could do, “president of the planet” .

"President of the planet" Are you kidding.

Al Gore the former vice president spoke on climate change at the Mizner Park Amphitheater to a crowd of about 500, I counted as they exited the amphitheater on November 14, 2009.  More than 200 protesters gathered across the street from the event, and their boo’s and chants could be heard inside the amphitheater as Gore began his presentation.  Gore is a partner in a venture capital firm that finances “sustainable” and alternative energy businesses, for curbing carbon emissions, Carbon Credits which will be bought and sold on an exchange he created.  Gore’s investments are ones he has held for decades and he will make billions. He has created a crisis called global warming an unproven science. It’s all about money and nothing else. I believe the protest was a successful event and has shown once again that the people have had enough of being ripped of by phony politicians and ex-politicians. I would also like to say as a former police officer of 28 years I would like to commend the Boca Raton Police for an outstanding job. They were professional in the manner in they handled the crowd and their responsibility of protecting the people that attended the event. The mayor and the citizens of Boca Raton should be proud of the men and women that serve them. Kudos to you Boca P.D.

Politics over duty and honor

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed "one of history's most infamous terrorists".

_46354721_composiite_ap_bodyKhalid Sheikh Mohammed has been described by US investigators as “one of history’s most infamous terrorists”.  The picture on the right is the one we have to remember. What other future pictures we see of this terrorist will not be representative of who he really is. He will be cleaned up to look non threatening but don’t think for one minute given the opportunity that he wouldn’t commit more acts of terrorism against our nation.  What a slap in the face to our nation to bring this terrorist to American soil and be given the same rights we as American citizens have under our Constitution, ( the one he and the rest of the Muslim terrorists are trying to destroy ). Once again this President is playing politics over his oath to protect and preserve our way of life.

Thanks giving wishes for our military men and women.

We can never say enough thank you's to our military.

XEROX is doing something special. Go to this website www.LetsSayThanks.com . You can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can’t pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services. It is FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?  Our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them and it’s a wonderful way to say thank youPlease take the time to pass it on for others to do.  We can never say enough thank you’s.

We did not loose the war, Be of good cheer, Persevere

N.A.S.A. has as it’s motto : Failure in not an option.

Once again the Democratic party has rejected the will of the people and spit on our Constitution. This should only be a further reason for us to continue our righteous battle against them and the President’s communist agenda.

I would ask all of us to take a minute today and every day until the battle to get our Republic back has been won.

At one P.M. take a minute and pray for our nation and all the people involved in our fight for strength and courage. We are fighting the good fight but we need a touch from heaven.

God bless you all and God bless our great country.

Wake up senators we are watching for your vote on healthcare.

Tonight November 7, 2009 the health care came up for a vote in the house of representatives. That is a joke. Who do they represent, not us? I have kudos for the Republicans that voted the will of the people and applaud them for standing tough against Obama and the democrats. I do not have any respect;  have nothing but contempt for, Congressman Joseph Cao from Lousiana. Knowing the damage this legislation could do to our country he abandoned his party, voted against the will of the people and the constitution. No excuse is acceptable from this man. I would like to see how the Republican party in Lousiana and the GOP as a whole handle this insult of monumental proportion. As for myself, I would like to see this individual ostracized and made an example so the pending vote in the Senate is a wake up call to our senators to pay heed to the will of the people and the constitution. We will not forget their votes in the coming election.

Patrick Laffey 4 Senate District 32, So they don’t die in vain.

On Saturday October 31, 2009, I attended the funeral of Spc. Daniel C. Lawson killed in Afghanistan on October 15, 2009. I did not attend as a candidate but as a citizen to honor a patriot, a hero and a man who gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country. Words can not express enough to tell you the honor I felt being there. This man was loved and respected by his family, friends, and those who served with him. Even though you and I did not know him personally, we all have a kinship to him and all the men and women who serve in our armed forces.

Someone asked me, “Where do these type of people come from?” I believe these people come from average families that have faith, values, and pride in themselves and love for their country. These men and women follow a long line of patriots from our own revolution to the present day. The baton has been passed from generation to generation and we, as a people, must not let these who have given their lives, die in vain. Like Daniel, we need to stand up  for our country. We must support our military in every way we can, thank them for their sacrifice and support and pray for their families.
May God bless them and God bless our country.
